ELOISE TEAM FIRST RESPONDERS TO AIRCRAFT INCIDENT

PYBAR’s Eloise project Emergency Response Team and several other PYBAR personnel were first on the scene of a light aircraft accident.

The PYBAR team responded to a call over the site radio that a light aircraft had crashed within a few kilometres of the Eloise Copper Mine site, 70km south of Cloncurry, as observed by our client’s personnel.

After liaising with our client, the team proceeded to the accident scene through difficult terrain with no roads, needing to cut farm fencing to access the site, while maintaining contact with Queensland Police, the mine site and landowners.

On arrival, our team co-ordinated the scene and prepared for the arrival of the rescue helicopter, later assisting to contain a fire which had broken out.

Tragically, nothing could be done to save the lives of the three people on board the aircraft which had been travelling from Toowoomba to Mount Isa to assist Queensland Fire and Emergency Services to map areas of recent bushfire activity in western Queensland.

We are proud of our team members who displayed a great example of the PYBAR Values in action.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences go to the families of those who tragically lost their lives in the accident.
