A Message From PYBAR’s General Manager
December 11, 2025Our General Manager, James Glover, shares an update on new work wins, our new corporate home in Orange and our people.
Welcome to the latest edition of the PYBAR newsletter!
In this newsletter, you will see a number of articles celebrating our new work wins, our new corporate home in Orange and, most importantly, our people.
New work has been secured at Rosebery, Tasmania with the award of the underground development and rehabilitation contract as well as raise boring work at Prominent Hill, South Australia and Stawell, Victoria. As we went to press with this edition, we were also pleased to announce a long-term development contract with Larvotto Resources at the Hillgrove antimony-gold project near Armidale in regional New South Wales. These projects have been secured on the basis of our capability, experience, and the performance of our past and current projects.
Our existing operations continue to deliver and that is through our commitment to our values of Safety, Service, Respect, and Results.
We are a business that is dependent on several key inputs, and they are people and equipment.
On the people front, we celebrate in this edition the appointment of Greg Lipka as our new SHET Manager. Greg has a diverse background with experience in underground coal, civil and infrastructure projects, and has a proud family association with mining and tunnelling. Greg has been in the business for several months and is engaging well with our clients and operational teams and identifying ways to further improve our performance and efficiency.
Service awards are recognised in this newsletter and it’s pleasing to see a number of key personnel achieve their 10-year service awards.
I’m fortunate enough to be able to share an article around my connection with a good friend and former business partner, Stan Bone, who was the subject of a recent documentary “Stan Bone: A Lifetime of Mining” which celebrated Stan’s life in mining. One of the great things about our industry is the people and characters that have worked and continue to work within it.
Equipment is a further key component of our business, and we celebrate in this edition the arrival of our first CAT2900XE hybrid (diesel/electric) loader at our Eloise project. Our strong relationship with our equipment suppliers such as CAT is key to our ongoing success.
To support our operations, we have secured a new workshop facility in Orange which is a major improvement for the business and provides a much improved, safer, and more efficient work environment for our maintenance personnel.
Adjacent to the workshop, we have a brand-new office facility that accommodates our corporate support functions and warehouse infrastructure.
As part of the broader Thiess Group of companies, we have a number of exciting opportunities in front of us, both domestically and internationally. Earlier this year, we supported one of MACA’s key clients to host a visit for representatives from the Cambodian Government to Australia who were interested to see how safety standards are maintained and regulated in the underground environment.
I trust you enjoy this edition of the newsletter. We look forward to sharing updates from the business in future editions.
