AUSIMM SYDNEY STUDENT CHAPTER PARTNERSHIP

April 14, 2024
AusIMM Student Chapter, UNSW

PYBAR is proud to partner with the AusIMM Sydney Student Chapter for 2024, continuing a longstanding relationship connecting students to the mining industry and PYBAR to industry professionals of the future.

The AusIMM Sydney Student Chapter, with members drawn from mining engineering and other mining-related disciplines within UNSW and other Sydney-based universities, is a student run extension of the AusIMM (Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy), a peak body for professionals working in the resources sector. The Chapter hosts a number of networking events throughout the year to showcase the vast opportunities within the mining sector, also enabling companies like PYBAR to engage with students and discuss graduate career opportunities.

PYBAR has benefited from our relationship with AusIMM with the engagement of several mining engineering graduates over the years coming about through the association. One of these is Chris Yap, PYBAR’s Technical Services Manager and UNSW alumnus, who joined PYBAR as senior mining engineer in 2014.

We’re very proud of our “poster child”, Chris, and his impressive career progression to technical services manager, currently leading the team responsible for PYBAR’s estimating, tendering and contractual activities. Chris has also travelled the world for work, gaining experience overseas during a three-year break from PYBAR back in 2011. Chris has worked on, visited and tendered over 150 mines worldwide and counting!.
